I. List of Senior writer duties:
  1. Provides writing support to senior management, sales/business development, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from multiple functional areas, including operations, clinical/medical, network, finance, IT, quality, and others throughout the proposal development process. Includes analyzing RFPs, contributing substantively to program/product and operational design, working with a department sales/strategy consultant and SMEs to develop strategic “win themes” and proposal content to yield concise, comprehensive, accurate, and compelling bids. Also includes supporting internal and external subject matter resources for content development and ensuring proposal content supports the company’s overall brand positioning.
  2. Manages logistical and operational aspects of proposal development with project managers and proposal coordinators. Coordinates and monitors progress against deadlines, and ensures that proposals are complete and compliant with RFP requirements.
  3. Submits, reviews, and evaluates related database language and develops new and/or updates to existing database content to ensure accuracy, competitiveness, and consistency with marketing strategies and overall company positioning.
  4. Shares information with fellow writers as necessary and provides feedback to lead writer of opportunities for training and development.
  5. Participates in ongoing staff development and training both inside and outside Magellan.
  6. Contributes to department special projects such as reviewing and updating proposal database language, writing white papers, and completing special customer ad hoc requests.
II. List of Senior writer qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree required. 
  2. JD, or ABA-approved paralegal certification and 5+ years of professional work experience, required.
  3. Current Bar membership and professional legal practice experience a plus, but not required.
  4. Excellent writing and reporting skills, with ability to write in a conversational tone and demonstrated ability to successfully write for the web, including experience writing for legal and lay audiences.  
  5. Mastery of high-volume, deadline-driven blog writing and ability to turn out a developed, legally and factually accurate, 250 word post in under 45 minutes.
  6. Intermediate understanding of HTML and SEO.
  7. 2+ years of professional blogging or online media experience required.
  8. Internet savvy with experience using social media tools such as blogs, message boards, social networks, microblogging, social bookmarking and/or social sharing.
