I. List of Junior
writer duties:
- Develops and maintains proposal schedules.
- Creates the proposal response annotated outline and compliance matrix.
- Coordinates and edits technical inputs for grammar and clarity. Revises and improves technical content prepared by operations for bids.
- Writes and edits Federal Government proposals. Particularly writes non-technical portions of proposals (resumes, past performance, experience sections, management sections, and supporting tables and figures).
- Manages distribution of technical portions to authors and creating a consolidated technical approach section. Interfaces with technical section authors in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents.
- Completes and ensures on time submission to pink / red / gold team reviews and final submission.
- Services as Proposal Coordinator / Book Boss for production efforts.
- Adheres to all client requirements and complies with requisite formats (according to company standards), including but not limited to all government instructions pertaining to bid preparation and submission guidelines.
- Researches a variety of assigned topics and develops writing plans and outlines.
- Assists in the development of supporting appendices and materials.
- Tracks and monitors the flow of all documents from inception to distribution of final copies. Identifies and corrects problem areas as they arise.
- Provides a quality assurance check for all document deliverables.
- Monitors and identifies new opportunities using tools such as FBO, INPUT, GSA e-Buy, and GWAC web sites.
- Develops and maintains proposal generation tools, templates, etc.
II. List of Junior
writer qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in writing Federal Government related proposals, preferably IT Professional Services. Strong HHS or NIH experience highly preferred.
- Should have a strong knowledge of developing proposals in response to Federal Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFI), etc.
- Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) preferred.
- Must have the ability to multitask and meet short timelines / deadlines.
- Should have the ability to willingly adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
- Must have a strong commitment to performing and producing at the highest level of quality at all times.
- Must have writing, editing and formatting experience using Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF suite in the Federal Government contracting industry. Knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
- Must have strong research, writing, proofing, formatting and editing skills.
- Should be a self-starter that can work independently and exercise judgment on a regular basis with minimal oversight along with a proactive service attitude with willingness to take a “hands on” approach.
- Should have the ability to win proposals that facilitate solicitation and procurement of new business.
