I. List of Book writer duties:

         1.            Manage up to one major and two smaller production efforts at once as the production team lead for these efforts.
         2.            Serves as lead production coordinator on proposals, managing overall workflow with the proposal manager and producing proposals that are responsive, compliant, and delivered on-time
         3.            Produce cohesive, well-organized proposals and oral presentations that are compliant, focused and responsive to customer-defined requirements.
         4.            Control book make-up and book-check activities for assigned products
         5.            Retains database of templates for proposals.
         6.            Work closely with proposal managers, proposal writers, and business development managers.
         7.            Provide word-processing, desktop publishing and graphic design skills to produce proposals and presentations.
         8.            Prepare the proposal work plan, manage assignments and collect and organize proposal content.
         9.            Ensure that all proposals are formatted correctly, have a low error rate in terms of edits, and are shipped in a timely fashion
     10.            Participate in meetings, including kickoff call, color team, clarification questions review, writers'' calls, debrief review sessions, and any other important proposal meetings
     11.            Prepares document template(s) and creates shell files
     12.            Formats documents, forms, etc.
     13.            Proofs files to ensure all edits are made correctly
     14.            Prepares documents for signature
     15.            Controls/tracks documents throughout the folder process
     16.            Interfaces with vendors for supplies to assure on-time production
     17.            order supplies and maintain the inventory
     18.            Ensures sufficient resources are scheduled for production and book check
     19.            Packs and prepares proposal for delivery (working with proposal manager) and tracks shipment
     20.            Performs general administrative and miscellaneous functions to support the needs of the proposal center
     21.            Direct the production, reproduction, and binding/packaging of Red Team proposal, final master proposal, and all hard/soft copies

II. List of Book writer qualifications

  1. Ability to process information quickly and accurately, with organizational skills and heightened attention to detail
  2. Desktop publishing; working with formatting/creating style sheets that are compliant with RFP requirements
  3. Must be methodical in the approach to problems. Requires extensive cooperation with others. Requires extensive editing skills.
  4. Since proposal production is a time sensitive endeavor the successful candidate must exhibit talents necessary to work with and manage others in pulling together large-scale schedule-driven efforts (e.g., proposals, newsroom editing, etc.).
  5. Must have and aptitude to learn quickly and experience with formatting, styles, text changes in graphics, and other basic desktop publishing is highly desired.
  6. Good understanding of government procurement process is preferred
  7. Must have good written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively
  8. Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines with the flexibility to work on several deliverables concurrently
  9. Must have the ability to interface with senior management
  10. High degree of competency using software products, including MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  11. Experience writing/editing and proofreading a variety of technical materials.
  12. Must function well in a team environment with the know-how to work independently.
  13. Understanding of Shipley Proposal Development or other proven proposal processes is desired.
  14. Communications skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals to research, secure and/or provide information, clarify situations, resolve problems, and ensure cooperation among individuals and across the team.
  15. Bachelor degree with concentration in English, Communications, Business, Journalism, or other related areas .
